Welcome to my home. Well, welcome a view from my home anyway. I work from here most of the time and sometimes I meet clients in and around my home city of Bristol in the UK.
So, let’s start with the Working from home idea.
For many people today working from home ‘seems like the ultimate way tow work right?’
Sure – the idea does! But the truth is that it takes a great deal of work just like any other business.
But it Is something which is highly desired now. But how does one go about it?
Certainly in this current time as I write this we are in a tragic economic situation as we are faced with a great pandemic called Corona Virus or Covid 19. This (as you will know if you are a certain age) has put a stop to everything. Its about as weird as it could get.
But, how has this affected my business personally? I don’t like to brag but my business has increased – and that is because what I do hasn’t changed, yet there are more people at home wondering what to do and finding me.
I am grateful and deeply thankful for the fact that I can serve others as I always do, but in times like this we all need a little direction.
Now many people would love more time to spend with loved ones but are they prepared to put the work in?
There is a ton of B.S and hype out there not to mention crappy opportunities which simply don’t last, so how do we know what to focus on when trying to build a sustainable Home based business?
Here’s the trouble with it all: Many people are vulnerable today, and frankly desperate to take control of their lives. Who can blame them, however – they are then led down various paths by so called ‘experts’ and ‘gurus’ who are like vultures swooping down to take their money. They will promote things such as ‘I will show you how to create a 7 figure business in your Jim Jams’. I’m sure you have seen the ads right?
They are everywhere. And so many claim to be super successful so all we have to do is copy them.
I know, we all know that if these people were truly successful they probably wouldn’t be advertising to you or i would they.
But there is a caveat to this:
Some people genuinely love helping others (I do!)
Some people are good at what they do and we can copy them
Some people are experts and have been there and done it
Mini cheer! Yeyyyy!
But hang on – we must be very careful who we trust and allow to sell to us. Agreed?

Just like any other business model it takes great planning, strategy, financial awareness, teams, great products/services, a solid brand, a unique approach, a healthy market, and many other things which can be very stressful and alot of work. There is no escaping this either. We all need help at times.
But – there is so much choice today that it seems almost impossible to know which route to take doesn’t it?
You know when people say the phrase ‘It’s Like Riding A Bike!’?
Well, this isn’t. At all! I learned to ride my Raleigh as a kid and yes I fell off, I got hurt, i got back on and got better. That’s it – now I can ride bike. YIPPEE!
But running a home based business is more like never fully learning how to ride a bike. You will fall off again and again, and even when you think you know what you are doing you will get hit by a curve ball which knocks you off again.
So, if anyone tells you that it is easy don’t believe them they are lying.
Sorry about that but – no matter what you try you will have to work very hard at to make it.
Now for the good news
You can set up a home based business and start working from home relatively quickly and even start to see revenue creeping in fairly quickly also depending on WHAT YOU DO. And HOW YOU DO IT.
Example: I am a Business Coach, Writer, Author, Podcaster, Course Creator, and an affiliate marketer. So I do a few things which all relate to my brand. So, notice I said RELATE TO! This means that ‘my brand’ which is me can have a variety of revenue sources which I can manage and constantly monitor.
So, in simple terms ‘as a coach’ or work from home type I am able to create what I like around me.
The costs can be quite low, the products are digital, I control what I do and when and I can add more products to my arsenal.
See what I mean there?
There are a great variety of ‘Work from home’ or ‘home based businesses’ and today many happily and successfully are working from home. Whether it is remote working for a company or in a micro business. So it is not only possible but a reality for many now. So that’s kinda cool isn’t it.
The question is though – what about you?
What could you do?

Let me tell you - back in the day I bought just about every product which promised me wealth. But I would note down my stats and look at earnings to see what was working and what wasn't.

COACHING
WRITING
CLICKBANK
VIDEO CREATION
NETWORK MARKETING
And it just goes on and on.
I didn’t make my personal wealth by using any one of the programs – I bought into though.
What I did was to take what I could from each one of the products and apply it to my own brand. I took the trainings and as I started seeing that none of the products would change my life I could see that my own brand was the answer. Some products were better than others granted, and I was able to share some of these with my friends and show them how to earn from home, but the vast majority were simply making the creator wealthy. Not me.
BUT I didn’t give up!
> I WAS LIKE A KID I just kept on!
> I started to formulate my plan!
> I gradually built a solid brand!

How and with what though?
I spent a total of $50k on learning, Coaches, development and injected this into building my own blog. Then a website and books. But this was after I discovered first of all what I would be best doing with my time.
Here’s what I knew:
I knew I was good at helping others as I had done this throughout life
I knew that I wanted to work from home
I knew that I was very passionate about being an entrepreneur
I knew that I could write a little
I knew that I had a great story to share
So, I trained to be a Life Coach, then a Business Coach, NLP practitioner, and I attended many courses, events, conferences, and studied the greatest leaders whom I wanted to emulate.
So, I started to copy some of my heros.
I knew what I wanted, why I wanted it and how to do it. So, that’s my story briefly, however, it’s not always that easy for others as they simply do not know what they want to do or why.
I knew that I would need a great team of people to help me with my weaker areas
Now, We All Know That Repetition Is The Mother Of All Experience!
Working from home can still require a team
So, of course I never quit, and I got better through my education and application, so my suggestion to you would be to try to define what you might love to do.
And today there are so many amazing business types to choose from.
My mistake early on was joining business after business and when I started to create success, growth and revenue the business would simply disappear. Can you imagine putting everything you have into someone else’s business and they are gone just like that?
NOTE: Be warned that there are tons of these businesses which are never guaranteed, and promise you the world yet are built by greedy individuals who will often scam you into thinking you can build an empire. Be careful. Very careful.
That’s why I recommend BUILDING A BRAND of your own.
It might be a dog grooming business, a cake shop, a tattoo studio, a barbers. a coaching business, an ecommerce store, a membership site, a handy man business, an app business, an influencer business, or anything else. Do not rely on your revenue coming from unstable sources. YES, you can charge others for your time, for your voice, for your skills, for your experiences and so on. I do this now, but I would highly recommend that you never rely on one income source either.
So:
1) BUILD YOUR OWN BUSINESS WITH THE BEST OF YOU
2) CREATE MORE THAN ONE REVENUE STREAM
That’s what I suggest anyway.

So, through altering my course I have had many life changing moments especially when I learned the Working From Home gig the hard way! WHAT A JOURNEY THAT WAS!

Of Course, Some life changing things are simply too difficult to explain as they involve our personal feelings which are unique to us. But I remember when I first learned to lose money. It hurt a lot. At the beginning I had lost around £20k.
I was devastated, deflated, disappointed and frankly depressed.
I fell off the Home based business bike ‘over and over’ and I cut myself all over internally. I was battered and bruised.
But I remember the fact that I went from not being able to ride a bike to being ok to becoming freeeeee!
Yes, I had to keep getting back on the saddle but I never stopped. And by never quitting I was able to let the wind go through my hair and go much further from home whilst having a great adventure.
The Working from home business adventure nearly killed me 15 years ago but I survived and now thrive, so at least I can tell the story in the hope that it helps you in some way.

What would you need to start something?
What would your ideal income be and why?
So what would you do in order to achieve your homebased dream?
Have you got what it takes to fall, get back up and then fall again?
What’s great about the home based business idea is that you get to call the shots.
You can choose what type of business you run, so if you are not interested in being a self branded expert, consultant,, coach, trainer, SEO pro, Copy writer or anything else of that nature, you can do something different. You can start a membership site, an ecommerce store, or an affiliate business. You don’t need to be face to face with anyone if that’s what you prefer.
All I did was to find those whom I loved and respected and essentially copied what they did. But just to be clear, i added my own unique ingredients to the mix. This is important as we need to be WHO we are from the truth of who we are. That’s what makes it personal. And being personal certainly in my type of business model is critical to my future.
Can You Copy Experts?
Who do you love and respect? What could you learn from them?
We were always taught to NOT TO COPY PEOPLE at school of course ‘BUT’ when you want to be able to develop a solid sustainable online Income ‘Working From Home’ YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO COPY SOMEONE WHO IS ALREADY SUCCESSFUL!

Back Then 14 years ago I was looking for a WAY TO EARN OR A SYSTEM that I could duplicate and help others to do what I was doing. It did take me several years to build my own brand but no-one can ever take that away from me.

It all depends upon the model you have chosen to work with and whether it is still applicable now or in a few months. So, we have to always think from the customers perspective and be there for them in the best ways we can.
This means excellent customer service and follow up. Great channels of communication. The best tools and the ability to test what works and what doesn’t.
Working From Home: You can earn as much as an educated professional
Working From Home: IN THE PAST, I was personally not getting the online success which I felt I deserved and I was attracting all kinds of people who just wanted to work 3 hours a day.
We know that this does not always exist!
WORTH KNOWING: A Professional Coach can earn as much as a Doctor or another professional who has taken 15 years to reach a certain level of income, and so we don’t need the degree or MBA. What we need is an ability to work hard and with a focus on specific daily tasks.
For me, working with a great Mentor and other professionals was the way forward!
And as I have always wanted to help others and I enjoy the process I was one of those who decided to mentor myself.
I worked with 4 separate coaches to get where I am and they were all worth it to me.
But we have to do what is right for us. You need to know what tools and resources you need.
