READY SET GOAL!! Do You Set Them?

Do You Get The Results You Want?

Do You Realize The Power Of Effective Goals?

Setting Goals: One of my greatest influences in life has been the late Jim Rohn.

This guy knew what goals meant and how important they are to success and I learned so much from him over the years.

Jim said “Either you run the day or the day runs you”!

SO TRUE!

Let Me Ask You A Question. How many days have gone by just like yesterday with no real progression of the results you REALLY WANTED?

Setting Goals: I know I have been there.  Now, I am not talking about just setting generalized daily tasks but setting weekly goals too.

We may all have goals in life; but these may be what to in a given day or week, but the goals may not be the kind of goals which are going to fundamentally change our lives.  Not all goals do.

But, we can set more strategic goals which take us forward towards our cream scenario, career or life plan.

An example of what can be done:

When you have completed 6 daily tasks for your personal and business goals or whatever it is THEN get clear on what you want to achieve by DOING THESE working on the most important goal first!  The top 20% of your tasks will give you 80% of your results. So figure them out.

WHY are daily tasks important?

They are step by step building your life and destiny if you like; so knowing what to work on every day towards an ultimate goal is vitally important.

The more you see the bigger picture or end goal the more you know what your daily actions need to be.

So, by the end of the week you can have a solid conclusion as to what was achieved, what wasn’t and what is still needed in order to keep yourself on track. There are many goal tools out there, strategies and principles, but I work with the SMART goals idea which I will go into a little later on.

We have no need to make this complicated or to use sophisticated tools to do so, what we need is a pen and paper.

As long as we can get down what is most important then we can work from it.

Let’s look at an example goal if you are in sales:

You might say by the end of the week I want to create 6 sales for your business; so 6 sales based on your activity during the week, you see?

What work needs to be actioned in order to realise this goal?  How many leads, numbers, conversions are we looking at?

What types of marketing, promotion, events are needed to hit the target number of leads?

What is the average sale come from in numbers.  So for me I can make 5 phone calls and make 1-2 sales sometimes 3.  So I need  5 phone calls, meaning I need 10 calls through the week, meaning that  I need to drive the right targeted leads into my sales funnel.  usually – from 80 viewers to one of my webinars i can assume that I will create about 25 Optins to my funnel.     My job is to get 10 calls per week from that 25.  And if I only get 5 calls then I need more opt-ins, maybe 50 or more.  I have to measure my numbers in order to establish what’s working against what isn’t.

So, personally I use numbers to define my goals so that they are specific and measurable.  I don’t just generally say that I need  more sales.

Its like saying ‘i need to lose weight!’   or ‘I want more money!’

How much weight, by when, why? What will that do for me?

How much money, by when, why? What will that do for me?

See the difference?

SWEEPING GENERALISATIONS SELDOM CREATE GREAT RESULTS.

So, FIND OUT what kind of activity is required for you to hit that ‘mini weekly goal’ and more importantly ACHIEVING IT!

Like This:

What are my 6 daily tasks relating to this weekly goal
> What are my numbers relating to the End of week Goal
> What will my end of month Goal be?
> What will my end of 3 month Goal be?
> What will my end of 6 month Goal be?
> What will my end of Year Goal be?

Again, you have to know what you are doing each and every day, and have goals reaching as far as 10 years ahead.

You can work back from there.

What do you wish to achieve by that 10 period?

5 Year period, 3 years period, 1 year period.

If you have no gauge then you probably have no way.

You see, If you don’t know WHAT YOU ARE WORKING TOWARDS then YOU WILL NEVER GET THERE.

I am not talking about LOOSE DREAMS here, I am talking about CONCRETE WAYS and TASKS that TAKE YOU NEARER YOUR DREAM ACCOMPLISHMENTS.

So, work back from the end point until NOW. This way you are planning how to get there.

Setting Goals: When Things Get Too Big Think Small!

Every little step is progress so make things realistic for you.  Take those baby steps and keep moving, and as you do you build momentum.

This is psychological as much as anything else because, when we feel we are moving forward we feel more confident and this drives us forward more.

It helps me to feel as though THINGS ARE reachable and you know what?  I ha e reached them by applying what I am talking about.

I know that this is a super old video and my hair is crazy, but the principles are the same.  I am kind of weird in many ways in that I will use old videos to emphasize how things are no different now.  Yes the video is crappy in quality and very old, but I keep them to show that I was planning my goals 20 years ago.

I applied what I read and I am here now because of that.   We have to use what we have around us to help us.

Inside you and me we have enough, we just need to get clear on what we want and why and from there never stop.

By the way – goals aren’t just for losing weight or for more money either, they are FOR LIFE!

If we don’t plan at least certain areas of our lives then we will drift.   We will drift like a ship in the ocean always trying to navigate our way through rough oceans with little direction. While plans often change, our goals never need to.

So, my advice here is to really get to know what your goals are and why.  That is so important.

So I touched on S.M.A.R.T Goals!

This simply means that you can be clear on what you are trying to achieve. SO….

1. Specific:
A specific goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general goal.

2. Measurable:
You need to have some way of measuring your progress if you want to achieve your goal.

3. Achievable:
A goal must be achievable. For example, setting a goal to break the 100m world record when you’ve never ran track is NOT achievable.

4. Realistic:
A goal has to be realistic. For example, if you’ve not made your first sale yet, it’s unrealistic for you to set a goal to become a millionaire in the next 3 months.

5. Time limited:
You need deadlines for all your goals. A goal without a deadline is only a wish.

GOT IT? Hope SO!:)

In which case, you now need to start taking some notes on this.

Setting Goals: How To Master This Concept

Quick question; do you watch football?

If so, how amazing Is It When Your Favourite Football Team Scores A goal!

It feels amazing doesn’t it! Imagine if you scored that goal, how would you feel with everyone looking at you and you jumping up and down with heightened adrenalin and overwhelming joy! Who wouldn’t love that? Well maybe people who don’t like football perhaps? BUT YOU GET THE POINT!:)

Anyway the point is that when you achieve a personal and profound goal in your life this is what you feel and sometimes the joy could last alot longer than 10 seconds it could last 10 years OR MORE!

Setting Goals: THIS IS WHY IT IS WORTH PLANNING YOUR DREAMS. Goals are not necessary for everything for example I like to live life FOR NOW so I tend to just DO THINGS FOR FUN as it keeps the excitement in me. This is great but not for LONGTERM ACHIEVEMENT. We don’t want to plan everything AS LIFE WOULD BE BORING, but plan on what is IMPORTANT.

But Why Have Goals Greg?

We don’t need to have goals for everything or we may miss out on living life, but there is certainly nothing wrong with structure and in knowing where we are aiming, because – it gives our life and time purpose.  Should we not have a a reason or reasons to live?

I like to think that I have reasons for being here.

I can use my passions, skills, strengths, gifts and so on to become more and to expand.  And if I don’t use them they are a waste aren’t they.

What’s the point in wasting our gifts?  Time goes FAST, and if we don’t set goals it will be too late.

So, if you value your life, your direction, your dreams and your life path then I suggest you apply goals to them.

Goals are just no good without a solid reason for setting them.

SO THEY HAVE TO BE WORTHY OF YOU!

Stretch yourself.   Whilst you may have mini goals, and longer term goals there is nothing wrong with having huge goals.

If we don’t then we may stay limited and stuck in a certain way of being or living.

It could be health, wealth or a relationship!

Ultimately I set goals for my dreams and I do dream big.  If it doesn’t excite me then I see no point.

So, if you have a worthy dream in life that is always present in your mind, then you need a worthy goal to begin the process.

Get clarity around that dream.

What are you aiming for exactly?

Just be sure you are chasing the right goals.

As the worst thing I have heard many times is when people say to me that they chased certain things only to realise that they felt empty afterwards.

That way you will not be let down when you go for something as a stepping stone to A GREATER LIFESTYLE. You have to realise that this can be fun at the same time as creating great changes, I decided to make it into a game.

Yes, a game, where I would have some fun setting myself PERSONAL BESTS TO BEAT.  Like a competition – only I am the only competitor trying to best the last results. Try it!

It's a great way to raise your own standards.

TACKLE THE MOST IMPORTANT TASKS THAT YOU CAN DO NOW TO TAKE YOU QUICKER TOWARDS COMPLETION OF YOUR GOALS. These are usually the most UGLY and DIFFICULT THINGS. You know what you have to do so get to it!

MINDSET

What training have you done around mindset stuff?

Honestly, do you work on yourself?

Do You Ask For What You Really Want In Life? OR are you thinking more about WHAT YOU DON’T WANT?

Having faith and expecting the best in yourself is really the fuel that drives your desire and actions.

At the very least you will BE in a much better frame of mind to tackle the day!

That's how to approach your goals.

Setting Goals: How To Master This Concept: I would like you to ask yourself what you expect to receive TODAY?

BE HONEST!

Now I don’t want you to be asking for negative stuff as WHY WOULD YOU? What I am saying is that you can ask with the ‘expectancy of positive results’.

HOT TIP: Affirmations are fine IF YOU Master Your Words And Become Them. BUT Be gentle with yourself as this is not about FORCEFUL DESPERATION. RELAX and calmly believe. Thoughts CAN BE MASTERED and so can FEELINGS! Repetition With Love Impresses the Subconcious Mind.

Mindset Mastery: Take A Leap Of Faith!

Ask as if there was no possible way of DENIAL! You may find sometimes this doesn’t work ‘but’ it will be more effective if you approach the person or subject with a confident expectancy.

It’s in the approach that makes the difference.

Mentally prepare for what you want and then ask for it and keep on reinforcing this until it starts to become a part of you and feels natural.

ALL AREAS OF LIFE: This kind of thinking can work in pretty much any area of your life as long as it is in alignment with your ‘true self’ and for the better good of yourself AND OTHERS. Don’t get greedy but ask quietly inside and smile with the knowing that you are about to receive good.

: Acquiring What You Really Want Is Possible!

Many People HAVE ACCOMPLISHED MANY GREAT THINGS BY THINKING AND ACTING THEIR WAY TO SUCCESS. I am not really talking so much about visualisation either (although it can work in a similar way!) This is about you gaining confidence in yourself so that you can take charge of your circumstances. People who don’t ask FOR WHAT THEY WANT have not much confidence so this leads to CONTINUED FAILURE OR FEELING STUCK.

Basically, as we put out thoughts and feelings we actually get back the corresponding things in reality. So here Is A List OF Ways To Attract What You Really Want:

Setting Goals: How To Master This Concept

Setting Goals: How To Master This Concept

1) BE OPEN TO OPPORTUNITIES ALL AROUND AND USE WHAT YOU NEED
2) EXPECT THE BEST ALWAYS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS MAKE IT A HABIT
3) DOMINATE YOUR MIND WITH WHAT YOU WANT NOT WHAT YOU DON’T WANT
4) NOTICE WHERE YOUR FEELINGS ARE STRONGEST AND ALTER THEM IF THEY ARE NOT GOOD
5) THINK FOR YOURSELF AND CHOOSE FOR YOURSELF
6) HAVE A POSITIVE MINDSET ALWAYS AS YOU WILL ATTRACT MORE GOOD

7) ACT ON IDEAS THAT YOU GET RIGHT AWAY
8) FOCUS ON WHAT YOU REALLY WANT AND TAKE CONSTRUCTIVE STEPS TOWARDS GETTING THERE
9) LET GO OF THE PAST IT GETS IN THE WAY OF YOUR SUCCESS NOW
10) UNDERSTAND THAT YOU ARE CREATING YOUR LIFE SO YOU MUST DECIDE IF YOU WANT MORE OF THE SAME OR NOT

11) HAVE A CLEAR OBJECTIVE MAP OF WHERE YOU ARE HEADED

Some questions to help you get clarity:

How are you set for setting goals now?

Do you think you have what it takes to reach those important areas?

What or who's help might you need now?

How will you measure your success rate?

How will you keep yourself accountable?

What tools or resources might help you?

How can you keep this simple?

I touched on the fact before that we don’t need sophisticated tools for this.  What we need is to take some form of consistent action.  What you sow you shall reap.

It’s a bit like when we write a business plan.  We have to know every detail in order to mitigate as much risk as possible.  We need to research what is needed to gain clarity around our plan in order to see the vision, and account for every eventuality.   A solid plan means that we have a way in which we can move forward, and with this plan we have a roadmap with which to focus.

Although plans change as we move forward we know where we are headed.

Finally: one thing I do which helps me every time is to keep that vision of the end goal.     What does it look like? feel like? smell like? taste like? sound like?  Using all of our senses helps us to feed the brain what we wish to see happen.  And then the brain works on ways to get you there.  You would be surprised at what the mind can give you to help you.

We have resources within us always:

We only use something like 5-10% of our brain power, so what if we could use even 3 or 4% more?

We have always dreamed and had visions of what we want, so we know how to dream.  We just have to qualify that.

We write shopping lists down, so why not write yourself a shopping list of your ideal life and look at it every day.

We have immense imaginations where we can even fool the brain into thinking something is real when it isn’t.

We train for events, jobs, roles, and practice getting better and this is no different to goal setting.

We all have habits, so we can create better habits to support our goals.

We obsessed as kids over toys, bikes, trainers and so on until we got them we can still do that.

We have mastery over what we choose to believe, think, focus on, so we can leverage that.

It often amazes me that so many people obsess over SHORT TERM FIXES more than LONGTERM GOALS.  They want it NOW!  But this very often creates a consistent run of average results.  We get highs and lows all the time, instead of a steady progression of a worthy goal.  So, if this is you try to recognise it and apply what we have spoken of.
