Let’s be honest – life depends on these two words, in fact, we ALL cannot survive without Relationships and Communication.

So why do we neglect them so much?

Simple – we are living in a world where we are becoming busy and less concerned about others making us lazy and less bothered about making an effort.

This bothers me, as I believe that non-communication and lack of relationship awareness kills and destroys life and business.

If only people were more self aware and open and up front things would get resolved way quicker and we would all live much happier lives. This is just not the way ‘most’ people are though. And many ‘oldskool leaders’ still have so much to learn about understanding others in their teams and customers.   Its trick though because many managers and high level types are just different to the more compassionate types in the world.

 

They are touch and they get business done.  They want to make money and will do whatever it takes to get that. 

But, my life and business is all about PEOPLE FIRST.  And therefore my success and happiness has been created upon this.

I know the importance of profits and numbers of course, but I thrive with emotional connection, helping others, listening to them and building rapport.  Also, with finding better solutions and creating better lives, and if there were more of us building our own Small businesses and being great communicators, more of us would live lives of greater value, contribution and service and we would be able to live more on our terms rather than working for organisations and companies or governments that do not resonate with us at all.

Many People are simply unhappy and stuck ‘way more’ these days, as they have been placed in systems which they just do not believe in or care for, YET they need the money, so its a tricky place to be.

 

So they are in a place where their MINDSET is not fully functioning because of being in the wrong role.

So my suggestion would be to learn and master WHAT YOU REALLY WANT whilst you focus on bringing and giving attention to these two words RELATIONSHIPS and COMMUNICATION and your life will change for the better.   FOCUS on the mindset aspect of designing a life and business which aligns with who you are and with your values.

That’s how you become a TOP PERFORMER in your sector.

Why is this necessary?  Simply because you will create more solid team structures, you will create greater retention in your business and with your customers. 

 

Listening skills are so important as we get to feel and really understand where someone is coming from and when we do so we can help them and they can help us.  It’s win win. That’s why in my 13+ years of studying Relationships and Communication I believe it is an art to be mastered.  IF YOU WANT to thrive on this planet and in your own Small business you really have to master this.

Study EQ, NLP and emotional intelligence and you will see perhaps from a different angle just ‘why’ self awareness is the foundation to all great and lasting progress.

I know this all sounds a little deep but I am passionate about it.

Let’s be clear – Relationships and communication IS NOT JUST ABOUT DATING SITES AND PERSONAL LIVES!

People buy from people and they buy from emotion.

They want to feel an experience.

If you can connect emotionally with trust and rapport and build in the value you will cultivate strong relationships with your potential target buyer/client.  And they are WAY MORE likely to ‘not only’ buy from you BUT BUY AND BUY AGAIN! And they will tell their friends and family.

We all want repeat custom in Business so I am sure you would agree that it is far easier to RE-SELL to a trusted buyer than to find a new one and this is why it is vitally important to get this right.

It’s all about the buyers journey and in many training’s you will notice that any professional organisation will describe the importance of the various stages of the journey. I advice that you jump onto a course to help with this – as many now are very cheap or even free.  The more you know the journey of your buyers and clients the more you will build a bridge between you and them.

There are various stages when selling as you may know – and as a buyer these stages start with ‘the consideration stage’ followed by the decision to buy later.  And that initial contact is really the most important part of ALL SELLING.

Now, going back to relationships for a moment…

Life is all about relationships right?  Of course!  And no matter whether we are talking about our personal lives or in jobs and business they bind us or break us.  

As a coach of 13 years I am always creating and building new relationships in the best ways I can.  I am nurturing and cultivating them and always learning about others.  It is my passion to learn about people and WHY they do what they do, so I really enjoy helping my clients to also create better relationships in what they do.

If you think about it – your personal relationships with your family impact on your life and how you feel and therefore how you emotionally and mentally respond.  This spills over into business and careers, so I believe that our relationships have to be worked on in order to not only survive but thrive.  Part of my Small Business coaching and marketing involves helping my client to express their message and vision through a passion or idea and – to connect to a strong market need or demand, and a large part of this is in the cultivation of that ‘message’ through communication and relationships.

Knowing OUR VISION, MISSION, ETHICS, GOALS, PLANS, STRATEGIES, SYSTEMS AND STRUCTURES.

How we express ourselves in our relationships affects everyone and everything around us – there is no doubt about it and this is no different in Small business.

So I feel it is vital to all positive growth.  Again – listening and in particular ‘active listening’ is essential to understanding another at a deeper level, so, no matter what Small business you are in or what role you are in you want your of life you have  a richness which comes from you and your message to the world.

 

And so whilst there is an art to SELLING which is a large part of this, we have to learn to master the art of creating better relationships.

There are many ways to communicate and talking is just one way.  Other ways are in our body language, marketing, advertising, expressions and other ways and all of these ways give a message to the other person.  In music, through Art, and through messages we are being given day to day.  And as I mentioned before studying EQ is a fascinating and empowering area as it will help so many managers and leaders to better lead and manage.

 

How we communicate ‘what we want’ in our lives and how we express our feelings and thoughts creates results always – and so we have to see what we are creating and manage ‘how to’ communicate in the most effective ways in order to get what we wish to see happen and our message across.

If we are not clear in our choices or decisions and in our own feelings we get mixed results and thus our lives are a mixture of results.  This is why so many people live by default as they really don’t know what they want or why.

I personally believe in LIFE DESIGN.  Knowing what we want and why and setting about sculpting and shaping that.  We cannot plan for everything and we will come across many challenges in our journey but we can develop and design our lives by discovering what matters most to us through our values and passions.

To get the results we desire we have to be crystal clear on what we desire most and get this across in which ever way is relevant.  Personal or in our business message, our communication with our co-workers, staff or team-mates requires awareness on our part so that we can be more successful and ultimately productive.

Communication is an extension of YOU, your brand, your vision, your message, and so – being clear about what you stand for is key to having fulfilling and positive results and great relationships.

 

VIDEO

We know that being face to face is the most personal form of communicating with another, but we can also use video tools. Skype, zoom and more to communicate as a second place resource. Video is only getting more common and popular because of that and so I recommend using YouTube and other platforms to get your message across to those specific types who need your product/service.  You don’t need to be an expert here either just get on your phone and shoot real videos.  Test what works and what doesn’t. Scale up what does and back link to your pages/offers/value driven content etc.

  2. WHY will buyers choose me over my nearest competition?  What is my business communicating? 
  3. DO I NOW have an effective email follow up system, strategy and sophisticated customer service support?
  4. WHAT TECH do i need in order to be my best such as CRM software?  WHO WILL operate and manage that?
  5. AM I spending enough time and resources on ensuring my TEAM and CUSTOMERS are OK by asking Q’s?
  6. HOW might I improve my daily operations regarding the above 5 questions?     
  7. WHAT is every area of my business including ME, my TEAM communicating in the way we listen, act, sell, dress, work and market what we do? 

 

 

So, how did I go about it?

Before I even attempted to understand ‘any’ of the above I GOT CLARITY and became crystal clear on ‘WHY’ i was going to be doing what I was going to do.  In other words I first found out what i really wanted to do in a truthful and authentic way as I knew that this would mean working in my greatest areas.  Remember the old idea that we need to do what we love.

I started with LOVE. I started to understand that loving myself was the key. 

From there I could ask better questions about my PASSIONS. 

And once I defined those passion areas that I wanted to be involved with I created MY PURPOSE. 

 

Do we all have a purpose? I don’t know about that, but I believe we can shape one.  And that’s what I have done and helped hundreds of my students to do.
