37 Effective Marketing Tips

Let's start with what motivates you?

The reason I ask is because, when we know what motivates us to make decisions we also get an insight into what others may think about.

When we know what others think about we begin to know where to target our advertising and marketing.  We know where to promote – and in what way.  But we need a plan and a strategy and possibly a team to help us get this right.

Once you know what it is that ‘you makes you tick’ it is easier to know what others want as well.

But we really need to go past the basic form of research such as SEX, AGE, TYPE and so on.  We need to know what they think about before bed, what time they go to bed, what they worry about, what they buy, what they dream of, what they are thinking when brushing their teeth in front of the mirror, what they read, what they eat and drink and what their family looks like.  We need to know the person as though they were out next door neighbor who we speak with all the time.

But how do we get that close?  It seems a bit personal doesn’t it?

As long as we are doing so with the right ethics and respect then it’s fine.

Starting with research, asking questions, polls, surveys, questionnaires and any other tool to gather info on them.  We can use FB polls and set up FB groups also to look at what people are doing, thinking and how they behave.

From the behavior we can deduce whats going on and look at the data.

As we study the data and see trends using tools built into our research and marketing we then can notice what we need to scale up and what to let go of. Of course we can hire experts to do this and I do this.  But if you cannot afford it then consider connecting with experts whom you can offer expertise to and they can also do the same.  This is a great way to get help for free starting out.

As I said, of course, we will do so with so with highest ethics, respect and without sharing their data with anyone else, Unlike Mark Zuckerburg.

What’s important to know is that there are types sure but each person is also unique.  So we cannot please everyone all of the time. It’s impossible, but we can certainly look at trends and the media to see where others are looking at specific time and we can leverage that by creating the right content to appeal at the right time and with the right kind of story.

Everyone IS UNIQUE yes, and everyone has their own PERSONAL REASONS for what they want or desire, but we can get enough from our research  to not waste time and money in the wrong areas.

THIS VIDEO IS ABOUT GETTING TO KNOW OTHERS AND WHAT MAKES THEM TICK.  It’s an old video now, and I still use the old one if the principles stand up.  What I said there 15 years ago still makes perfect sense now.

We all have our own reasons for doing what we wish to do. We have different drivers – but ultimately we all want to be happy.

So, if we can get to know what makes others happy often through their fears and passions we can find the right types for our business and for our products.  Not only buyers but team members.  We are hiring people who all have their own reasons for doing what they do.  What do your team FEEL and HOW can you help them to be their best?

37 Effective Marketing Tips: Discover What Motivates Your Buyers

So, it is vital to remember that with you and I being in business we are not only trying to attract the right buyers for our products, but we are also trying to attract the right TEAM members who become assets.  These assets are going to help you or they won’t, and that’s why it pays to get it right.

We are marketing to sell but also to buy.  We want to invest in the right types for the right roles.

So, knowing another’s ‘why’ is another thing.

But when we know we can direct our efforts and attention into the most effective areas.

When you can understand where a person is coming from and where they want to go you can then assist them in BUYING FROM YOU.

You can help them to define what actions they need to take in order to reach their desired outcome OR SOLUTION.

Being a true Leader in any business means to serve with your heart WITH EVERYTHING THAT YOU PRODUCE and when you do that you will see astounding results in your business.  But before you do so, you will need to know what you are aiming for.

37 Effective Marketing Tips: Discover What Motivates Your Buyers

So, take some time to research your market and get to know PEOPLE’S WANT AND NEEDS that you are SELLING TO!

That’s how you create online success.

As potential customers will feel that you care and that you are there for them, and this is what will make the difference between someone INVESTING IN YOU OR NOT.

A simple process but one in which too many people just don’t put the effort in and then wonder why they still are not making any money.  We can waste an inordinate amount of money marketing in the wrong areas.

I know as I have been there and done it.

But once you know where they are and what they want you can then apply specific tactics and strategies in order to persuade them to take a look.  When I say persuade I mean ETHICALLY and honestly, not like some old dodgy Used Car Salesman.

This does not work.  It is outdated, and tacky. So, always be honest with the value you can offer and try to over deliver on that.

This goes without saying that, you will want to be a person who is seen to be the best in your market. Not just seen by others to be the best, but by you being the best you can be.   If you are truly passionate about what you do as I am then you will have no trouble in studying your craft every day.  And if you are not passionate about what you do then why do it?

I want to wake up every morning and feel excited by my choices, and that I have chosen to design my life and business.  It is an extension of me and I believe that it has to be in order to stay in the game and to thrive.

With that said, let’s look at how we can then best connect with those whom we have chosen to serve.

People buy from emotion. It might not always be rational either, they just desire things.  And this is through PASSION or FEAR.

Some fear that NOT having something will make them sad, so they need a fix or high in some way.  Others feel so connected to products and services which speak to them that they simply have to buy into that.

Some people ask me why I write about both MINDSET and BUSINESS and my answer is it’s the same.

So, let's get into that now.

37 Effective Marketing Tips: Discover What Motivates Your Buyers

Once you can connect with people’s emotions you are going to sell your products and services.

And in your emails, content, copy and pages your can use a variety of things:

You can use anything from…

> HUMOR
> FEAR AND SCARCITY
> COMPASSION

> EDUCATION
> PASSION
> LOVE

And more – to Get Across What You Are Promoting!

The point is that we can study what other marketers do and we can basically look at the words they use.  The ones with huge budgets pay big bucks for writers to create their copy so why re-invent the wheel?   We don’t need to

NOW ARE YOU AWARE OF YOUR NICHE RIGHT NOW?

It is important to know WHERE YOU ARE COMING FROM with your Online Marketing efforts.

If you have no clue what market you are in, what you wish to disrupt or dominate then you will crash and burn very fast.

You see, you have to know your area best and study your craft.

You have to be able to be honest with what you are promoting – and think of what you can offer ‘rather than’ just thinking of the money.  Greed is something which people can become addicted to and it only causes second rate efforts as a Business person.  This is why we have to have integrity in what we do.

Building a great and responsive list is a great way to market your products and services by delivering value to your list.  So, the first major part of building a solid business ‘particularly online’ is in building a foundation through a responsive list.  This is powerful because – no matter what happens to your products and services as they may change you will still have a loyal subscriber fan base.  This means that as you have connected with them through the right types of emails, they will stick with you for a large proportion of the time.

So, marketing isn’t just about one area or another – it has to be in all areas of your operation to ensure it is fully effective.

So, what’s your strategy going to be?

Your marketing has to be focused and it may pay you to hire a marketing expert to ensure your efforts are creating results.

Here are a list of marketing tips which I use and which have helped me to create a great brand and loyal following.  Not to mention a thriving online business with continual growth.  It’s time to connect and build those relationships in order to create more sales.

37 Effective Marketing Tips: Discover What Motivates Your Buyers

  1. The idea with your promotion is to make a potential buyer or subscriber think they are losing out if they don’t take action. Make them feel a sense of loss if they don’t act.  Create a reason to make them feel that your product or service is at the top of their priorities.  In truth, it probably isn’t, as other things trump what you may sell as essential or vital things, but if they feel it’s at the top they will have a desire through fear of passion to have it.
  2. Never forget that selling is an experience.  So, look at what you buy into and how it makes you feel. Why would you buy what you sell? Define the reasons.
  3. Do something different than the others.  See what your market is doing, and strive to become better, in order to beat competition.  You might offer something which no other offers – or you might do some wacky stunt with the media to stand out.  Be different in your approach.
  4. Ensure you time what you do effectively. Timing is everything. Son’t try to offer something which no-one wants anymore. If people are using Instagram or Tik Tok then get in front of them while the trend lasts and leverage the timing. And timing also means the best time of day to send en email, linked in post or Instagram picture.  Play with times, study the research and other experts.
  5. Re-purpose your content. I use these posts in videos, books, podcasts and Social media posts.  I try to ensure that I drive the value and use the right keywords to get people sharing.
  6. Use video as much as you can. It is second only to face to face.  Using Youtube or any other platform. Create compelling videos of value and ensure you link to your products/services at the top of the description. That way they can click easily.  Also get a subscribe button added. Use keywords and use great thumb nails to attract attention.  Again – study top performers and influencers and use what they have.
  7. Don’t negate the offline world – build rapport. Build trust and become liked.  People want to trust you so help them to.
  8. Build an email list with a free lead magnet.  Get them in and start delivering immense value. Study the best lists and use their awesomeness to create yours.  Ensure you take a course on List building to become a master at this as it can pay you over time. I am able to share high end premium products and services I love simply by just SHARING a REVIEW!  Think about it – you love it they may buy it.  If the product or service is £3-4k you are winning even if you make 1 sale per month. (By the way I have post on effective list building here!)
  9. Create and build a group on Linked in or Meetup and connect with like minded people. Lead and they will trust you. Then invite them to your webinars, trainings, Facebook Lives etc.
  10. Hire a freelancer to create an ebook for you or a report to give away and then use FB ads and Instagram ads to promote the ebook.  Once they download the ebook you then offer various options to buy your products. Low end through to high end. And include videos to show your face.  You only have to look on Facebook right now to others doing this. Remember – don’t reinvent the wheel you don’t need to.
  11. Ensure that your website passes the 7 second test.  If a potential customer/client leaves before that then you may have lost them to competition.  And you don’t want that.  So get it right. and also ensure that your site loads quick as this also may lose you conversions.
  12. Have a Mobile site built – as 70% of traffic is looking there.  Ensure you have a site which is designed effectively to cater for both mobile and non mobile.
  13. Never forget to place your phone number and contact details everywhere, as people want EASE. They don’t want to be searching everywhere or again they will leave.  You could lose a great deal of business, so market your site for ease and simplicity for their actions.
  14. Never fear sending more emails, manage and monitor them. It keeps YOU in their mind.  Simple. Otherwise we all will forget as life is so busy and we move on.
  15. Never be afraid of guaranteeing what you sell. People want trust and security.  Offer refunds and show you are confident in what you share.
  16. Always COMMUNICATE. Ensure you have great CRM tools in place. And Customer service has to be on top.  Show you care and have integrity.
  17. Remarket. This is an effective way of not losing all those who saw your ad, page or offer. This means there is code on Facebook or your site which picks up on where your potential customer has been. This means that you can essentially follow that person around the web.  Same with Google and Youtube.  They have code which picks up on where you have been.   This can save you a ton of money as you are chasing a fish thats interested rather than starting over.
  18.   Referrals.  Much of my business income comes from referrals. If you are good at what you do then others will tell their friends and family and you will connect with other interested types.  I will also touch on repeat custom and Retention here.  If you are good at what you do you will be able to re-sell to current customers through various channels.  For me its in the Email lists.  Be sure also to reward your customers for referring others. This is a great incentive.
  19. Always sell the benefits and results, not the features. Paint a picture of what they are getting. Create the experience they want.
  20. Hire great sales people for your business.  If this is relevant to your model. They will make you money whilst you do what you do best. Define roles of every team member and stick to your strengths. And never negate direct sales – it is still very much alive and sometimes trusted.
  21. Use direct mail.  It’s old and its still trusted. Today many people are losing trust online as there are so many hypey guru types lying about what they do, so old fashioned mail shows a connection and a personal touch which stands up still today.
  22. Have great reviews and testimonials always.  it can only help with those who are trying to choose who to buy from or work with. Ensure these are written with specifics and strategically where possible in order to really pop and build trust.  This includes using video testimonials which are very powerful as seeing a video is second only to face to face.
  23.  Use Webinars.  HERE IS ONE OF MINE.  This is a powerful way to engage either live which is best or recorded in order to fill your pipe line with hot leads. Get them onto an email list so even if they don’t watch your webinar they are still being sent emails about watching it and being given great value by you.
  24. Facebook. Use ads, lives, and lookalike audience marketing.  I hire an expert to do this for me, so ensure you know what do or hire it.
  25. Always be willing to re-invest into your business.  A business needs cashflow and reserves. Many will simply spend what they make but I don’t recommend you do this. Always have a contingency plan back up for expenses, un-planned costs, and to invest in your marketing.
  26. On that same note: be sure to monitor all costs and know your numbers. Don’t waste money on ‘so-called’ experts who don’t always bring you returns on your investment.  Hire experts who have a proven track record of getting results.
  27. Always have a great call to action. I have them at the end of every blog post even if its just to contact me. They are not all sales driven.  For example; building an email list you will want a compelling reason to get their name and email.  Study the best CTA tips to be the best.  This also includes complete monitoring of all open rates. those who un-subscribe and those who click an email but don’t click on links in the body of the email.  Quite simply the Call to action is only a part of the whole process.
  28. Never negate banners or display advertising. This has been very popular and at times not as effective, but there is no doubt that ads are everywhere we look today. Good or bad, you cannot avoid them. Across YouTube videos, in Facebook, On Google, across Apps. They are there.
  29. Offer Offers. Simple!  If you already have loyal subscribers then reward them. Create bonuses, ebooks, videos, products, discounts ETC to entice customers to buy more.
  30.  Use the power of JV’s. There are whole training’s on this out there. I was recently on one. In simple terms this means leveraging from other experts. You build rapport with them and get them to promote you.  But you also promote them. There are many ways to do this. One of the greatest places for this is on Linked in. As there are many experts there with big lists and loyal followers.  It can be very powerful.
  31. Add to your product lines. I have 1ON1 Premium Coaching, courses, affiliate products, ebooks and now other areas of revenue. It is all tied to my brand, so as long as it relates to what you do then it is a no brainer.  I always believe that we should never rely on just one income source.
  32. Get out there an network. There is something so powerful about face to face meetings. I have picked up many high paying clients from being offline.  They trust and like you and then get to know you.  So, where might you focus your offline efforts.
  33. A talked about being premium as Coach.  Do that.  Why have transactions which are lower than your value.  Be the best charge more. Deliver results. less sales required to meet monthly income goals.
  34. Use payment plans or subscriptions where possible. Why? Because when you can get a person paying you monthly on autopilot that’s leverage.  You can start a membership site.  You can create various price points.
  35. Follow up with old leads, optins and with conversations. Don’t let them go just because they may have said no once.  They were interested initially, so think about how you can engage with them again.
  36. Know your niche inside out. Become the monopoly there. Don’t try to be all things to all people. Know the specific needs of your target audience and over deliver.  Master your craft.
  37. Have a plan.  Not just any plan. A solid and robust thoroughly worked through plan. This will act as a support to your goals. it will enable you to secure investment or finance should you require it. And it will encapsulate your vision, mission, ethics, and message.  Plans do change and will but, you have to have a solid starting point which will help t reduce risk as you will have researched in depth what needs to happen.  Hire an expert to help you with this, get an accountant, and start right. Make sure your WHOLE TEAM are a part of this plan.  So – as I stated before, they all know the importance of their role in your vision. Support them, look after them and nurture them.

The fact is that 80% of Small businesses fail within the first 5 years as they start wrong.  So, don’t do that.

We must never forget the fact that every team member is growing the business, so all roles need to be clear on the ultimate goal for each year, 5 years and 10 years and so on.   Each team member has a shared vision and passion to deliver the message you have.

It might be that you are Micro business owner like our friend here and you wish to work alone. That’s cool, but this doesn’t mean that you should not ever hire others or outsource because, you will probably burn out if you try to go it alone.

We cannot be great at everything and be effective enough in our role if we wear many hats.
